The lighting is great and so is the anatomy.You used a vignette - all the tricks of the trade... but subject matter and the cartoony style reduce the difficulty of the painting and the challenge it poses, imho. It's somewhere between a quickpaint and a true digital painting. Your style is interesting, but what saves this picture for me is really the color composition and feeling for light, not originality or detail.

As far as advice, I'd say lots of practice and watching videos of other artists. I learn a lot from watching the methods that other artists use while they are painting.
If you're coming into digital art on a tablet, I think the best practice is writing rows of text in your drawing platform. I would write out poems on my tablet into Photoshop in order to familiarize myself with it.
