Gannon, the Prince of Darkness, faces Link in the final chamber of Death Mountain from the original Legend of Zelda.

As an '80s kid, few things were more important to me than Legend of Zelda. I was Link for many Halloweens and I often created "dungeons" out of couch cushions and blankets around our house. Hyrule was a constant source of inspiration for drawings which continues even today.

This scene is when you first enter Gannon's (not a typo) chamber and Link holds the completed Triforce above him. During my first play through of the game, my hands were sweaty when I saw this final boss after hours of navigating his maze-like dungeon (no Gamefaqs back then!).

I took liberties in the design here so in b4 omg inaccurate :P I borrowed a lot of Gannon's design off his more recent incarnations.

Enjoy!

See my other Legend of Zelda pieces!

This is so cool! Link holds the shining Triforce, and Gannon seems to be in some sort of a surprise state. I think that it might be a bit (jut a teensy bit) better if Gannon was closer and taking a step back due to surprise or something. Or a step forward because he wants to attack since he's regained composure. I feel that it might be a little bit more engaging that way :3
And you'll be able to portray more of Gannon. But, what can I say? It's amazing as it is!!

And to think that the teeny, tiny, little kid is the one who wins this battle. Soemthing tells me that Link would have lost if the game had not been 2-D. :D

Oh wow this is amazing. :wow: Heh, I was too young, and the game looked too hard for me, but I sure loved watching my older brother play it. :)

What a fantastic tribute to the original epic adventure.

This may be the most compelling version of Ganon I've ever seen. You've created a completely new style for Zelda, one that's closer to the personality of the original's aesthetic than to anything the likes of Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or Skyward Sword. This is truly unique unto itself. The environment is a very tall, vaulted corridor built into Death Mountain, the largest in the land. Its rock serves as Ganon's floor, and such a massive beast he is. He owns Death Mountain now. This makes perfect sense.

Though I wish we could see his feet, be they toed or hooved. They just kind of.. disappear behind the floor. He could be engaging more in the scene by stepping close to or in the foreground. He might feel more imposing upon Link. That Triforce light energy swirling around Link and hovering in his hands above his head. That's fantastic. It empowers Link visually, matching and surpassing the terrible might of Ganon. This is just grand.

Thank you for sharing your art with the world.

Thank you very much for your kind words and great comment! I'm really glad that I was able to portray that sense of awe that Ganon invokes when you enter his chamber.

You're spot on about the feet - I'm not even sure why I had them disappear now that I'm looking back at it! I love drawing hooved feet so it's strange that I opted out of a chance to draw them. I'll blame it on a lack of sleep and poor planning haha.

Thanks again!
